The new gen Mahindra Bolero is expected to launch around August, bringing several updates both in its design and features inside and outside.
Mahindra was seen testing a new SUV with an internal combustion engine on Indian roads. From the initial looks, it seems like it might be the upcoming new generation Bolero or maybe an updated version of the Bolero Neo. Using the newest test mule pictures, we have made a digital sketch to show how the final production model could appear.
The new gen Mahindra Bolero Stands Out with Classic and Modern Touches
It’s obvious that this SUV will probably stand out a lot because of its size and overall look. The design elements appear to take a lot of inspiration from Mahindra’s existing range of vehicles. The shape and body lines suggest some well-known design features, possibly borrowing from the Scorpio N and getting some style hints from the Thar.e concept, all while keeping the recognizable looks of the Bolero Neo.

What to Expect from the Next Bolero SUV
The rendering shows a vehicle with a tall and boxy shape, featuring strong vertical pillars and a flat rear door. It also has a sloping bonnet, staying loyal to the traditional upright style of the Bolero. The spare wheel is still attached to the tailgate, keeping one of the classic design features the model is known for. At the front, the SUV has grille slats arranged vertically with a raised nose, and it’s flanked on both sides by LED projector headlights. At the back, the SUV is expected to come with rectangular tail lamps and a redesigned bumper, while the sides will get a fresh set of alloy wheels.

As per the current buzz in the industry, the new platform for the upcoming Bolero or Bolero Neo might be officially unveiled on August 15. Possibly, this reveal will happen together with a prototype that’s almost ready for production. Under the surface, Mahindra is likely to introduce a much-improved ladder-frame chassis, which will clearly set this model apart from other midsize SUVs that use monocoque structures.

Affordable Pricing and Shared Technology
The main goal will probably be to keep the price affordable for buyers. Some features and technology from the XUV700 might also be included in this budget-friendly SUV. On the mechanical side, the new Bolero is expected to keep using the reliable 1.5-litre three-cylinder diesel engine that the Neo currently runs on. This engine produces around 100 horsepower and 260 Newton-meters of torque.

That said, Mahindra might also consider providing an option with a bigger engine capacity. They could even think about using engines like the ones found in the monocoque-based XUV 3XO to boost the SUV’s performance and overall appeal. The SUV will likely come with options for both manual and automatic gearboxes.
