Tata Sierra Returns! Electric Model Arrives Before Fuel Version

The upcoming Tata Sierra will first come out as a fully electric SUV, and the petrol or diesel version (ICE) will be launched later on.

Tata Motors showcased the final production version of the Sierra at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025 held in New Delhi. The launch in the market is likely to happen before the current financial year ends, with the electric version expected to roll out first, followed by the petrol or diesel one. In terms of looks, the final version stays pretty close to the earlier EV concept, holding on to most of its standout design features.

Tata has quite a few new electric models lined up, and they’re expected to roll out gradually till the end of FY30. Once the electric Sierra joins the lineup, it’s likely to come with two battery options, and the driving range might go beyond 500 km. This is somewhat similar to what Tata did with the recently launched electric Harrier.

The Sierra’s hardware might also include fast DC charging, plus smart features like vehicle-to-load and vehicle-to-vehicle charging, making it pretty versatile. We’ll have to wait and watch if the Sierra will also get a dual-motor system like the one in the Harrier EV. There’s also a chance Tata could offer a lifetime warranty on the battery as part of the package.

When it comes to design, the new Sierra takes inspiration from the original’s shape but refreshes it with modern proportions and contemporary details. A standout design feature is the black roof area that blends into the panoramic sunroof, giving it a smooth glass band look and making the roof appear like it’s floating.

Bold shoulder lines, big alloy wheels, sharp body edges, and a light strip running across the back all come together to make the Sierra look more grounded and commanding on the road. Beneath its hood, the petrol version of the Tata Sierra might come with a new 1.5-litre turbocharged engine that delivers around 168 PS and 280 Nm of torque.

Tata might keep using the 2.0-litre diesel engine, which produces about 170 PS and 350 Nm of torque. The Sierra’s features will include a big touchscreen, a digital instrument cluster, a dedicated screen for the front passenger, a panoramic sunroof, Level 2 ADAS, and plenty more.
