Kia India is set to roll out two fresh models in the country by March 2026 – one will be the next-gen Seltos with a hybrid setup, and the other will be the Syros EV.
Kia India is expected to introduce two new SUVs in the Indian market by the end of the financial year 2026, around March. Word is that the South Korean carmaker is planning to concentrate more on launching strong hybrid and electric vehicles in India. As per sources familiar with the matter, the next-gen Kia Seltos is part of this plan. The upcoming Kia Seltos is expected to come with a strong hybrid engine, and the Syros EV is likely to hit the Indian market within the next 8 to 9 months. There have been talks about a new 7-seater SUV based on the global Sorento with a strong hybrid system, but as of now, it doesn’t seem like it’ll be launching in 2026.
1. New-Gen Kia Seltos
The new-gen Seltos has been caught on camera a number of times while undergoing tests in India. It will feature Kia’s newest ‘Opposites United’ design style, which we’ve already seen on several recent models like the Syros and the EV9. The spy shots reveal the new-gen model sporting vertical DRLs, and the front grille has been completely redesigned from the ground up.
At the back, the new model will have a stylish LED strip that links the tail lamps, similar to what we saw on the EV5 before. The next-gen Seltos will come with 18-inch alloy wheels as standard, though the design will be quite similar to the current model. Just to give you an idea, 18-inch rims are currently available on the top-end GT-Line and X-Line versions. The inside hasn’t been spotted yet, but we’re expecting major changes and a bunch of first-in-segment features.
Called SP3i, the new-gen Kia Seltos will keep using the current engines — the naturally-aspirated 1.5L petrol, the 1.5L turbo petrol, and the 1.5L diesel versions. But the biggest update is that it will also offer a fourth engine option — a powerful hybrid setup. The 1.5L 4-cylinder naturally-aspirated petrol engine will come combined with a battery and electric motor to make a strong hybrid system, though we’ll have to wait to find out if it actually launches in India.

2. Kia Syros EV

Kia India recently introduced its first mass-market electric vehicle, the Carens Clavis, priced at Rs 17.99 lakh (ex-showroom) for the Indian market. The South Korean carmaker plans to grow its electric vehicle lineup by launching the Syros EV in 2026, aiming to compete with the Tata Nexon EV, MG Windsor EV, and Mahindra XUV 400. The current internal combustion engine (ICE) version of the SUV will be transformed into an electric vehicle model.
The design and features of the Kia Syros EV will mostly be the same as the ICE version, with just a few changes specific to the electric model. It might use the 42 kWh and 51.4 kWh battery packs from the Carens Clavis EV, offering a driving range of about 404 km and 490 km on a full charge, respectively. Media reports also say that Kia might fit the Syros EV with 42 kWh and 49 kWh batteries from the Hyundai Inster, which is expected to launch in India in 2026.
