Kinetic DX Electric Scooter Launched at ₹1.11 Lakh – Ather & Ola Should Be Worried!

The new Kinetic DX+ is powered by a 2.6 kWh lithium iron phosphate battery. It is certified for 116 kilometres of IDC range and can reach a top speed of 90 kmph.

The Kinetic DX name, which used to be popular with petrol bikes back in the 90s, is now back as a fully electric scooter. Now made by Kinetic Watts and Volts, an electric vehicle company under the Firodia-led Kinetic Engineering group, both the DX and its better-equipped version, the DX+, are built in Ahmednagar and cost Rs. 1,11,499 and Rs. 1,17,499 (ex-showroom) respectively.

At first, these scooters will only be available in Pune, with deliveries starting from September 2025. You can book yours online by paying a token amount of Rs. 1,000. Even though it has a retro background, the new DX comes with a fresh, modern look. Its body is fully made of metal, the floorboard is wide and flat for everyday use, and the underseat storage can hold up to 37 litres. The base model stays simple, but the DX+ comes with extra features like a backlit digital display, app-based tracking, and remote diagnostics.

The design was created with help from a European design company. The scooter gets its power from a mid-mounted electric motor that drives the rear wheel using a belt. There are three riding modes—Range, Power, and Turbo—so you can pick whether you want to save battery or go for better performance. The DX+ runs on a 2.6 kWh lithium-iron phosphate (LFP) battery, which is rated for 116 kilometres of IDC range and can reach a top speed of 90 kmph.

The battery type was chosen because it’s reliable with heat and lasts long, with the company saying it can handle over 2,500 charge cycles. The e-scooter comes with telescopic forks in the front and twin shock absorbers at the back. Braking is done using a 220 mm front disc, a rear drum brake, and a combined braking system. The scooter also has regenerative braking technology.

Both versions have a reverse mode, hill-hold assist, and a special Kinetic Assist button that links riders to a helpline if they face any problems—making it easier for people new to electric scooters. The DX+ gives extra connectivity and entertainment features that you can use through a smartphone app. Users can get remote lock alerts, check trip records, track where the scooter is, and receive messages like navigation tips or even birthday reminders.

They have already raised Rs. 72 crore from outside investors, and the parent company has committed Rs. 177 crore to support the launch. The DX+ is available in five colours—Silver, Red, White, Blue, and Black—while the regular DX comes only in Silver and Black.

Sound plays through a built-in speaker that’s neatly tucked inside the scooter’s body. You can also play music through Bluetooth, and the underseat storage space stays the same—it doesn’t get smaller. Kinetic plans to produce around 5,000 scooters each month and has set a booking limit of 35,000 scooters in the initial phase.
