Mahindra NU_IQ Platform SUVs Coming Soon
Mahindra NU_IQ platform is the new SUV base which company show on Independence Day function this year. Along with NU_IQ, Mahindra also show four SUV concept model. Company is saying this Mahindra NU_IQ platform will be used for future SUV in India and also global market. Idea is to give one common base for compact and mid size SUV, so Mahindra can make many different model from same architecture.
Size and Design of Mahindra NU_IQ Platform SUVs
SUVs based on Mahindra NU_IQ platform will measure between 3.9 metre to 4.3 metre in length. This mean future NU_IQ SUV will fall in compact and mid size space, where demand is highest now. Wheelbase of 2.65 metre is given, so cabin space will be good and comfortable for daily family use.
This platform also support FWD (front wheel drive) and AWD (all wheel drive), so it can handle both city SUV and proper off-road style SUV.
When Mahindra NU_IQ Platform Will Launch?
Mahindra already confirm that from 2027, new SUV will be made on this NU_IQ modular platform. The platform is flexible and it support many engine type – petrol, diesel, hybrid and also electric. This is why Mahindra can use same architecture for both ICE SUV and EV in future.
Ground clearance will go up to 227 mm, which is proper SUV stance. Another big thing is the flat floor layout. Mahindra saying this is industry first in ICE SUV, normally flat floor seen in EVs only.
NU_UX Features With Mahindra NU_IQ
Mahindra is not only working on mechanical part, but also bring NU_UX digital features with this platform. It will include connected technology, infotainment, navigation and advanced user features.
At the event, Mahindra show four concept SUV on NU_IQ platform:
- Vision.S – looks like early design of next gen Scorpio (maybe smaller size)
- Vision.T – possible 5-door Thar with hybrid or electric option
- Vision.SXT – more rugged version, with small rear cargo bay for utility purpose
- Vision.X – compact crossover SUV for city people
Mahindra also focus on weight saving structure and global safety rules, so platform is strong but still efficient.

With NU_IQ, Mahindra is targeting many type of buyer – city SUV, family SUV, off-road SUV, crossover. This also help company to save cost and launch new model faster. The four concept already give idea how next-gen Mahindra SUV will look.
