New-Gen Mahindra Bolero Is Coming – Here’s What to Expect!

The upcoming Mahindra Bolero is set to come with a fresh new look on the outside as well as an updated cabin inside. It’ll basically be a more advanced and improved version of the current Bolero Neo.

Buzz around the new-gen Mahindra Bolero has started heating up after camouflaged test cars were seen quite a few times in the last couple of weeks. Still, even though many are hoping it’ll launch in August, Mahindra had already mentioned before that they’ll just be showing a new platform and some concept models on Independence Day, not launching any actual vehicle.

Proper details about the actual vehicle are likely to come out a bit later, probably sometime soon. What’s clear right now is that the new-gen model will be placed a bit above the existing Bolero Neo, which means Mahindra might choose a different name or suffix for it. Since this model has been popular for more than twenty years, it’s very likely that the current version will continue selling alongside the new one.

Like we said before, this new body-on-frame SUV might take on a bunch of midsize monocoque competitors, both when it comes to looks and price. The new Bolero is expected to be built on Mahindra’s NFA platform, which will probably be the foundation for many of the brand’s upcoming SUVs. This time around, the Bolero might come with new features like a panoramic sunroof for the first time ever.

The current version still runs on a 1.5-litre, three-cylinder diesel engine that’s matched with a manual transmission, delivering around 99 bhp. For the new-gen model, Mahindra will likely swap that out for a four-cylinder 1.5-litre diesel engine, the same one used in the Thar three-door and the XUV 3OO. This updated engine is expected to give more power and better driving experience compared to the older one.

The door handles look like they’re now sitting flush with the body, which suggests a sleeker, cleaner design style. The front has been reshaped to include round projector-style headlamps, and the grille now features a more divided, multi-slat design. The LED daytime running lights are placed lower on the bumper now, and there’s also a fresh set of multi-spoke alloy wheels on show.

Plus, many features from current models like the Scorpio N and maybe even the XUV 700 are likely to be included as well. One of those features might be the part-digital instrument cluster that we see on the Scorpio N, which could make its way into the new Bolero too. Even though it’s covered in camouflage, some parts of the outside still give away quite a few details about the design.
