Mahindra Thar Electric might hit the roads in its final production version sometime around 2026 And it’s likely to come with major upgrades compared to its petrol-diesel version.
Mahindra is all set to unveil a fresh concept called Vision.T, and it’s expected to be revealed on 15th August 2025. The reveal is going to happen in Mumbai, alongside Mahindra’s usual Independence Day celebration. It’s the same event where Mahindra normally showcases its upcoming products and future tech ideas.
The first glimpses show a shape that looks quite similar to the Thar.e concept – that electric five-door model they had shown off over two years back. It had a bold, boxy look with upright design elements, and it was confirmed to be built on a tweaked version of the INGLO P1 platform, which was specially made keeping off-road electric use in mind.
Going by what the teasers are hinting at, Mahindra’s Vision.T seems to be carrying forward a similar design vibe. The Vision.T concept looks like it’s taking the design a notch higher than the Thar.e, showing how Mahindra plans to style its upcoming electric off-road vehicles. But the launch won’t be about just one vehicle alone. During its Freedom_NU event, Mahindra is also getting ready to showcase several concept models along with a brand-new vehicle platform.

This new platform allows for a longer wheelbase and a higher ground clearance compared to most regular electric crossovers out there. Around the globe, lots of automakers still prefer using body-on-frame designs when making electric vehicles meant for off-roading. Mahindra, however, might choose a different route — whether it sticks to the classic way or tries something totally new is still unclear.
At Mahindra’s Mumbai event, we can expect to see both electric and petrol/diesel models, with the new-gen Bolero probably making its debut too. Besides the main concept vehicles, Mahindra is also working on refreshed versions of the XUV700 and the three-door Thar. Both these models have already been seen testing out on public roads.

There’s also talk about an electric compact SUV based on the XUV 3XO, plus the upcoming XEV 7e that’s built on the same platform as the XUV.e8 concept. Mahindra seems to be seriously looking into hybrid options for its premium range as well.
