Since petrol cars have become much costlier to run due to the continuous rise in fuel prices over the past few years, CNG vehicles are gaining popularity again. In India, CNG cars are seeing a big rise in demand as more and more buyers are choosing them instead of petrol ones. Their share in the market jumped from only 6.3% in FY2020 to over three times that, reaching 19.5% in the last financial year. Here is a list of the top 10 best-selling CNG cars in India for the financial year 2025.
The Maruti Ertiga CNG, which is the dual-fuel version of India’s most popular MPV, stood as the number one CNG car model in India during FY2025. During this time, Maruti Suzuki managed to sell 1,29,920 units of their CNG MPV. The Ertiga CNG offers a mileage of 26.11 km per kg and is available starting at 11,00,499 rupees (ex-showroom Delhi).
Coming in second place was the Maruti Wagon R CNG, which recorded sales of 1,02,128 units. The third position was held by another Maruti Suzuki model – the Dzire CNG, which sold 89,015 units. The Dzire CNG is priced starting at 8,79,000 rupees (ex-showroom) and delivers a remarkable fuel efficiency of 33.73 km per kg.

Between April 2024 and March 2025, the Tata Punch CNG ranked as the fourth best-selling CNG car in India. Tata Motors sold 71,113 units of their CNG micro-SUV, which starts at 7,29,990 rupees (ex-showroom). However, its fuel efficiency is a bit lower, with a mileage of 26.99 km per kg.

The Maruti Vitara Brezza CNG took the fifth spot on the sales list, which is priced starting at 9,64,000 rupees (ex-showroom). Maruti Suzuki managed to sell 70,928 units of this CNG SUV, and it offers a fuel efficiency of 25.51 km per kg. Coming in at sixth place is yet another Maruti Suzuki model – the Eeco CNG, which recorded sales of 59,520 units. The Eeco CNG comes in a single variant, priced at 6,95,500 rupees (ex-showroom), offering a fuel efficiency of 26.78 km per kg.

Hyundai made it into the top 10 best-selling CNG cars with the Aura CNG model. Hyundai delivered 49,464 units of the Aura CNG sedan, priced from 7,54,800 rupees (ex-showroom), and it offers a fuel efficiency of 28.4 km per kg. In the eighth position came the Maruti Fronx CNG, priced at 8,49,500 rupees (ex-showroom) for the base variant, delivering a mileage of 28.51 km per kg. Maruti Suzuki sold 42,051 units of the Fronx CNG during the last financial year.
Taking the ninth spot was the Tata Nexon CNG, which is India’s first CNG car equipped with a turbocharged engine. Tata Motors priced the Nexon CNG starting at 8,99,990 rupees (ex-showroom) and managed to sell 34,712 units of it last year. This car is officially said to give a mileage of 24 km per kg. At the tenth position, the Maruti Baleno CNG sold 24,220 units. Starting at 8,44,000 rupees (ex-showroom), it offers a strong fuel efficiency of 30.61 km per kg.
