Indian people love big cars with 7 seat option, specially families who go long trip. Already market have many popular names like Hyundai Alcazar, Tata Safari, Mahindra XUV700 and Toyota Fortuner. But now new brands also preparing fresh SUVs with more power, new engine and hybrid/EV option.
So in coming 2 years, 7-seater SUV segment going to see big dhamaka with new models from Tata, Mahindra, Volkswagen, Renault and Hyundai. Let’s talk in detail one by one.
1. Mahindra XEV 7e – Electric 7 Seater SUV
Mahindra is not stopping when it comes to electric car. After XEV 9e, now they bringing XEV 7e which is basically 7-seater version of that.
This SUV will look more simple and traditional compared to 9e but still modern. It will share same 59kWh and 79kWh battery pack like XEV 9e.

2. Volkswagen Tayron – Premium Style SUV
Volkswagen is ready with Tayron 7 seater SUV, which is coming around Diwali 2025. It will basically replace old Tiguan Allspace in India.
This SUV already spotted testing on Indian road without cover. It will use 2.0L turbo petrol engine which makes 201 bhp and 320 Nm, same engine we see in Skoda Kodiaq.
Design wise, Tayron will have sporty R-Line inspired look, stylish cabin with premium touch and advanced features. Basically, it will be luxury feeling SUV but bit affordable compare to imports.
3. Tata Safari Petrol – Much Awaited
Good news for Safari lovers – Tata is finally launching Safari Petrol in November 2025. Till now only diesel was available, but petrol engine is high demand in city buyers.
The SUV will get all-new 1.5L turbo petrol engine with 165 bhp and 280 Nm torque. Transmission will be 6-speed manual and 6-speed automatic option.
In terms of features and design, it will be same as current Safari diesel like connected screen, ADAS, panoramic sunroof etc. Basically, Tata want to give buyers more choice without only diesel.
4. Renault Boreal – 7 Seater Duster Version
Renault also coming back with Boreal SUV, which is basically 7-seater version of new Duster. It is already under testing outside India and expected to launch in 2026.
- Engine: 1.3L turbo petrol, 154 bhp and 254 Nm
- Gearbox: 6-speed manual + 7-speed automatic
- Design: Inspired by Renault Niagara concept
If Renault price it smartly, it can compete Alcazar and Safari because Duster brand already strong in India.
5. Hyundai Hybrid 7-Seater SUV
Hyundai is also entering hybrid game with new 7-seater Hybrid SUV. Codename is Ni1i and launch will happen in 2027.
It will sit between Creta and Alcazar in company lineup. Engine will be 1.5L petrol with strong hybrid setup, giving excellent mileage with power.
This will be Hyundai’s first proper hybrid SUV in India and it will be made locally in their new Talegaon factory.
